Professional background
I am an ICU/CVICU nurse currently pursuing my MSN in Nursing Informatics. My bedside experience has given me a strong understanding of clinical workflows, interdisciplinary communication, and the impact technology can have on both nurses and patient care. Working in a high-acuity environment has also made me especially aware of how documentation, electronic health records, and clinical systems can either support efficient care or create additional challenges for clinicians. I am pursuing nursing informatics because I want to bring that clinical perspective into the design and improvement of healthcare technology.
My definition of nursing informatics
To me, nursing informatics is where clinical practice, data, and technology come together to improve patient care. It goes beyond simply using technology. It means making sure healthcare information and systems are designed in ways that help clinicians make informed decisions, communicate effectively, work efficiently, and provide safe, high-quality care.
professional goals
My goal is to build on my clinical experience while continuing to develop the technical and leadership skills needed to work in nursing informatics. I am especially interested in data analytics, workflow improvement, EHR optimization, and the implementation of healthcare technology. As I progress through my MSN program, I want to become more skilled at evaluating workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping develop solutions that work for the clinicians who use them. Ultimately, I hope to serve as a bridge between clinical practice and technology and contribute to systems that improve both the clinician experience and patient care.
